Beyond Borders: BLUE CONNECT strengthens cooperation for marine conservation in the Black Sea
On 29 September 2026, BLUE CONNECT brought together partners, scientists, policymakers, practitioners and stakeholders from Bulgaria and Romania in Burgas for the workshop “Beyond Borders: Marine Conservation in the Black Sea – Experiences from Romania and Bulgaria.”
BLUE CONNECT at European Maritime Day 2026
From 21-22 May 2026, BLUE CONNECT joined the MPA Community Network booth at the European Maritime Day in Limassol’s old town. Alongside PHAROS, Blue4All, BioProtect, MSP4BIO and EFFECTIVE, it presented science-based tools and collaborative approaches for more effective Marine Protected Area planning and management. The booth also introduced the MPA-CN as a growing space for connecting MPA projects, managers, stakeholders and experts across Europe, helping share knowledge, reduce fragmentation and strengthen cooperation.
BLUE CONNECT At European Ocean Days 2026
From March 2–6, 2026, BLUE CONNECT joined European Ocean Days in Brussels at the joint MPA Community Booth, bringing together policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders to shape the future of ocean governance. The MPA Community Network contributed through discussions, showcasing innovative tools, and strengthening collaboration across the marine conservation community.
Workshop | Nature credits in the EU’s coastal and marine ecosystems
On Friday, 30 January 2026 (09:00–12:15 CET), the European Commission is hosting an online workshop on “Nature credits in the EU’s coastal and marine ecosystems.” The event sits within the European Commission’s consultation process on the Roadmap towards Nature Credits, which aims to stimulate private investment in nature-positive action and complement public funding through credible, market-based incentives.
