Mapping for the Future: Interactive Design of MPA Corridors

Join us for our interactive workshop aiming to bring together a wide spectrum of UN Ocean Conference 2025 attendees by facilitating knowledge exchange and promote critical thinking. The event will commence with a short introductory session about the alignment with UNOC 2025 objectives and introducing the MPA Community Network with associated EU-projects.

The interactive workshop and main activity of the event will focus on designing Marine Protected Area corridors to balance ecological connectivity, socio-economic benefits, and industry needs. Using the mockup of tools that are being developed in different EU projects including BioProtect, Blue Connect, Blue4All, MSP4BIO, PHAROSand Marine Plan, you will work with maps, data layers, and connectivity metrics to collaboratively design MPA corridors.

The session will aim to explore trade-offs, EU Mission Ocean objectives, and decision-making challenges, generating actionable insights for MPA planning.
