SUBMON launches BLUE CONNECT activities in L’Albera Demo Site

A few days ago, SUBMON began its activities at L’Albera demo site with a public event at the Casa de Cultura in Llançà. The gathering served as an opportunity to introduce the BLUE CONNECT project and it brought together local residents, conservation enthusiasts, and marine professionals to learn about the project’s goals and explore ways to contribute to the conservation of their marine environment.

L’Albera demo site, located along the coves of Canyelles and el Rastell in Llançà, covers part of the small marine area of the Natura 2000 site ES5120014-L’Albera, a designated Special Conservation Area (SCA) that includes both terrestrial and marine environments.
Local Stakeholder Working Groups Established: A Key Milestone for BLUE CONNECT

We are very glad to announce a significant milestone in the BLUE CONNECT project: the successful establishment of Local Stakeholder Working Groups (LSWGs) across the 12 Demonstration Sites (DS). The session, titled “Stakeholder Engagement in Innovative Marine Solutions: Marine Conservation Management, Financing, and Beyond,” brought together an impressive array of participants, including research institutions, industry leaders, and policymakers from across Europe—especially from the North Sea Region. The session brought in knowledge gained from the MSP4BIO and BLUE4ALL Projects that BLUE CONNECT will profit from and build upon.
Connecting Seas: Fostering Collaboration and Innovation in Marine Protected Areas at Mission Arena 3

On November 26th, 2024, during the 3rd Mission Arena in Amsterdam, the panel session “Connecting Seas: Cooperation and Tools for EU Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)” brought together leading voices from EU-funded projects to address critical challenges and opportunities in marine conservation. This session united representatives from BioProtect, BLUE4ALL, MSP4BIO, Blue Connect, and MPA Europe. Each project showcased groundbreaking tools and methodologies designed to safeguard marine biodiversity while fostering sustainable governance and stakeholder collaboration.
