The meeting, held online on February 25th 2026, marked an important milestone in this collaborative process. During the session, participants validated the draft Blueprint Tools, a core component of BLUE CONNECT aimed at strengthening science-based and participatory ocean governance. This validation step ensured that the tools reflect regional realities, practical needs, and stakeholder perspectives.
A central part of the discussion focused on co-management and co-ownership schemes across Macaronesia. The exchange of experiences, lessons learned, and regional insights from the four archipelagos was particularly valuable in identifying both common challenges and shared opportunities. These discussions reinforced the importance of inclusive governance models that promote shared responsibility and long-term sustainability.

The meeting provided an excellent opportunity to remain closely connected with Macaronesian stakeholders and to continue advancing a collective vision for stronger, more effective co-management in the region. The active participation and constructive contributions from all attendees clearly demonstrated the commitment to building resilient and cooperative ocean governance frameworks.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone for their presence, engagement, and continued collaboration. The strong spirit of cooperation shown during this session is what truly drives the BLUE CONNECT process forward.
We look forward to continuing these discussions and advancing concrete actions under our three thematic Working Groups: Connectivity, Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), and Co-management.
