Between 29 and 30 of October the Nature Restoration Academy brings together early-career professionals, students and practitioners for two days in Berlin, preceded by an online baseline session, to build practical skills in marine and freshwater restoration.
Hosted by the SUBMARINER Network (SUB) and funded by EIT Water, with support from the Poul Due Jensen Foundation (Grundfos Foundation), the Academy builds on the online course of Blue Bio Techpreneurs “Integrated Ocean Planning: Marine Protected Areas, Multi-Use and Business Pathways”.
The programme runs in three parts:
First, an online session on 6th of October at 15:00 gives the cohort a shared baseline, drawn from the existing course content.
Then, a two-day event at SUBMARINER’s Berlin office delivers partner lectures, restoration case studies and workshop.
Finally, the recorded sessions are edited into a new restoration module and added to online course on FutureLearn, so the content reaches learners well beyond the room in Berlin.
Lectures, workshops, and case studies will span the land-freshwater-marine continuum, covering nature-based solutions for marine and freshwater restoration, restoration in practice through European case studies, citizen science and digital monitoring, restoration in offshore wind parks, and the business models and funding that sustain restoration.

Selected participants will be informed by 1st of October and participation is free.
