Throughout October, students from “St. Kliment Ohridski” Primary School in Burgas took part in drawing ateliers and creative workshops for making posters and postcards dedicated to the sea. Some of the postcards were sent as “A Postcard from the Sea” to their peers at “Vazrazhdane” Secondary School in Ruse, creating a symbolic link between the Black Sea and the Danube.

The final event and the official opening of the exhibition “My Black Sea” took place on October 30 at the “Chengene Skele” Cultural and Tourist Complex. The team of the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation (BBF) working within the BLUE CONNECT project was invited as official guest. The exhibition was opened by Diana Pavlova, a representative of the BBF team.
In her address, she emphasized the role of children as drivers of change and guardians of the future of the Black Sea:
“You, the children, are our blue links to the future of the Black Sea. Care for the sea begins with curiosity and love for it — just as you show through your drawings and exhibitions — and continues through the knowledge and actions we share together.”
After the opening, the children and guests had the opportunity to explore the museum exhibitions at the “Chengene Skele” Cultural and Tourist Complex, as well as the educational playground dedicated to the Black Sea and its inhabitants. The educational content and interpretive texts for the playground were developed by the Bulgarian Biodiversity Foundation in 2024, in its role as scientific consultant.
