Blue Connect Project Showcases Key Results on Stakeholder Engagement at International Conference on MPAs in MSP, in Bodo, Norway

From July 9 to 12, 2025, the Blue Connect was presented at the International Conference of MPAs in MSP in Bodo, Norway. This conference brought together a diverse audience of experts, policymakers, researchers, and stakeholders passionate about marine conservation and sustainable ocean management.

Debora Gutierrez, a researcher from one of our project´s partner – the University of Azores – represented the project and the Macaronesia Demo Site trought an oral presentation titled “Stakeholder engagement in the Blue Connect project: Bridging gaps in Marine conservation,” emphasizing the importance of collaborative approaches in MPAs. The project’s results so far – as the LSWGs (local stakeholder working groups) stablishment, action plan validations and next steps on stakeholder engagement were also unveiled, outlining strategic steps to enhance marine conservation efforts across Macaronesia and beyond.

The conference provided an excellent platform for engaging the public and international experts alike, fostering dialogue on critical topics such as MPA management, climate change impacts on marine biodiversity, and blue carbon science. The Blue Connect project’s participation not only highlighted its achievements but also reinforced its commitment to advancing marine conservation through stakeholder collaboration and strategic planning.

This event marked a significant milestone in the Blue Connect project’s ongoing efforts to promote sustainable marine ecosystems and foster stronger partnerships for ocean health worldwide.
